Here’s an abbrev. version of what’s happening with the 500 million-member site:
In a strategic meeting a few years back, Facebook says: if we put our users’ friends’ pictures in the Facebook profile advertisements, then our users will click more ads, and we’ll make more money.
What a lawsuit recently filed in LA says: but many of those users’ friends inside the ads are children… And technically they were used to make you, Facebook, millions of dollars.
Facebook’s comeback: we didn’t use kids in search engines, and we will fight this case. And maybe settle for about 10 mil like we did last year for something similar.
Lawsuit Filer’s comeback: You just got Americanlegalsystemized… Pay me!
